The loss to the Florida Gators was painful and frustrating, albeit expected, for Tennessee Vols fans, but they now have to look ahead to their next SEC game. This one could be a winnable matchup as well.

Our morning report on Rocky Top leads with UT looking ahead to the Missouri Tigers. Multiple press conferences from Monday will address this upcoming game. That’s not the only football news either, as we have an update on the kickoff time for another game.

Beyond football, individuals in women’s soccer and volleyball both made news. Three players in those two sports were recognized by the SEC for their efforts over the past week, and we’re going to make sure they’re recognized here. Let’s start, as always, though, with football.

Josh Heupel kicks off Missouri week – Patrick Brown, GoVols247

Coming off their 38-14 loss to Florida, the Tennessee Vols football team will stay on the road as they travel to Columbia, Mo. to take on the Missouri Tigers. Josh Heupel recapped last weekend’s game and previewed the week ahead with a press conference on Monday. He didn’t have details on Hendon Hooker or Joe Milton III, but both are still banged up. Here’s a bit of what he said.

"“Depth for us, certainly, is something that we’re thinking about and trying to continue to develop. Young guys got to continue to grow and be ready to play when given the opportunity and play at a really high level. The constant development of your roster is something that you’re always thinking about, always working on, and obviously recruiting in this cycle will be big for us, too.”"

Jacob Warren, Tyler Baron talk Florida, Mizzou– Austin Price, VolQuest

In addition to Heupel previewing Tennessee football’s matchup this week, tight end Jacob Warren and defensive end Tyler Baron also talked about what’s coming up. Warren discussed bouncing back from a tough loss. Here’s a bit of what he said.

"“I definitely think we’re playing with a lot more effort than we did last year. Another thing, we’re not dwelling on mistakes as much, even though we did make a ton of them.”"

Baron discussed the difference in the way this year’s team is playing as opposed to how last year’s team played. Here’s how he described it.

"“We are all together – offense, defense, special teams. Everybody believes in each other. We all know that, once again, like I said earlier, a lot of the issues we are having are self-inflicted and we can change them. So, it’s just a matter of rallying around each other and getting better.”"

South Carolina kickoff time set – Dan Harralson, VolsWire

A week after visiting Mizzou, the Tennessee Vols football team will return home to face the South Carolina Gamecocks. The SEC released the kickoff time for that game Monday.

"Kickoff is slated for noon EDT between the Vols and Gamecocks. ESPN2 will televise the divisional matchup."

Two volleyball Vols recognized by SEC – UTSports

On the heels of a sweep over the Arkansas Razorbacks this past weekend, the Tennessee Lady Vols had two volleyball players stand out. Seniors Natalie Hayward and Danielle Mahaffey were both recognized by the Southeastern Conference.

"Hayward earned SEC Setter of the Week accolades for the second time this season and for the third time in her Tennessee career.Mahaffey was named SEC Defensive Player of the Week for the first time in her career."

Soccer freshman recognized by SEC – SECSports

After helping the Tennessee Lady Vols beat the Auburn Tigers and the Missouri Tigers this past weekend, UT midfielder Taylor Huff earned SEC Freshman of the Week. Huff scored the game-tying goal in the 86th minute against No. 11 ranked Auburn at home last Thursday to send the game into overtime.

"The Vols went on to win in the second overtime. She then logged an assist on UT’s first goal at Missouri, playing 78 minutes in the 2-1 double-overtime win."
