Tennessee football at Missouri: Five key Tigers to watch

It’s no secret that Missouri has a major issue when it comes to stopping the run. However, that doesn’t mean that everybody responsible for generating a rush up front is a problem. In fact, Mizzou actually has a pretty elite pass rush.
The Tigers are in the top 25 in sacks per game with three and a quarter. On the other side, Tennessee football is out of the top 100 in terms of limiting sacks, allowing three and a quarter a game. They are also outside of the top 100 in sack rate and No. 98 in quarterback pressure rate.
Simply put, the Vols have trouble protecting the quarterback, and Mizzou is pretty good at rushing the quarterback. Standing out above all of them is Blaze Alldredge, who leads the team in every tackles category. Alldredge has four sacks, eight tackles for a loss and 36 tackles, 21 of which were solo.
There are other defenders who can be playmakers in this system, including Isaiah McGuire and Devin Nicholson, but Alldredge is the standout among them. If the Vols are going to move the ball and keep drives alive while passing the ball, they have to contain him above any other defender.
