Don’t read too much into Vanderbilt losing 62-0 to Georgia. Clark Lea’s team isn’t good, but any below average team would get blown out like that by the Dawgs this year. Also, their loss to the East Tennessee State Buccaneers, even in blowout fashion, doesn’t look as bad given how elite ETSU is at the FCS level.

Remember, Vandy still did beat the Colorado State Rams, and while they are a bad team that may get blown out by UGA and can’t even hang with a mediocre team like the Stanford Cardinal, they could still beat some of the really bad teams. The hope for Vol fans is that Tennessee football isn’t one of those really bad teams.

However, on Saturday, the ‘Dores get just that opportunity. They’ll be hosting what seems to be a historically bad UConn Huskies team, one that may be the worst in FBS play. Connecticut didn’t play last year and didn’t even let Randy Edsall finish this season after he announced his retirement at the end of the year. The program is in horrendous shape.

Prediction

Ever since firing Edsall, UConn has gotten better. They lost to the Wyoming Cowboys, who are 4-0, by two last week. Vanderbilt will win, and it will be ugly, which leads this game to hit the under, but they won’t cover.

Vanderbilt: 17 UConn: 10 (UConn +14.5; Under 51)
