We mentioned with Theo Jackson and Tyler Baron that South Carolina is not the best at preventing sacks. They have allowed 12 on the year, which is two from the worst in the SEC. To be fair, Tennessee football is actually below them, but that’s a different story.

What stands out about Shane Beamer’s team is not just the sacks they allow but where those sacks come from. Half of them come from linebackers, and another two have come from defensive backs, so many of the sacks come from different blitz packages, and Tim Banks is uniquely skilled at dialing those up.

When it comes to linebackers, nobody has stood out for the Vols more than Jeremy Banks recently. Last week alone, Banks had an interception, a sack, two tackles for a loss and four solo tackles. He was the highest graded linebacker on the team.

In addition to that, Banks is third on the team this year in total tackles with 25, fourth in solo tackles with 14, second in tackles for a loss with five and a half and and first in sacks with two. Add in a pass deflection, and he does it all, so he’ll be crucial to shutting down South Carolina’s offense on Saturday.
