Amidst all the big plays so many South Carolina players have made this year, the safeties have been the biggest stars. Strong safety R.J. Roderick has forced two fumbles and also has 20 tackles, 12 of which were solo. However, Tennessee football’s biggest problem on the day will be free safety Jaylan Foster.

Nobody gets South Carolina’s pass defense going like Foster. He is the ultimate playmaker, leading the team with four interceptions on the year. At the same time, he has forced two fumbles, so he’s responsible for six turnovers through five games. Add in the fact that he leads the team with 39 tackles and 25 solo tackles, and he’s by far South Carolina’s biggest playmaker.

Oh, Foster also has a sack on the year. Simply put, he does it all. The Vols will have to account for him in order to avoid interceptions, obviously, but their issues earlier in the year when it comes to fumbling the ball also play right into his hands.

Meanwhile, Foster is capable of playing up and stopping the run, and he can help contain Hendon Hooker, as Tennessee football wants to test how South Carolina can handle a mobile quarterback. Taking all this into account, Foster is the key guy they have to watch out for. He may be the best safety in the nation, and the Vols have to be ready for what he can do.
