Tennessee football: SEC and top 25 picks and bets for Week 6 of 2021
This site couldn’t parallel an elite performance by Tennessee football last week. The Vols rebounded in a huge way, and while I did improve, it was only up to .500 on gambling bets. When it comes to the moneyline, though, money was lost, so it was a bad week.
Week 5 performances
- Outright: 5-5
- Moneyline: 5-5; Lost $367 if $100 bet on every game (-36.7%)
- Gambling record: 10-10 (5-5 against the spread; 5-5 over/under)
Here’s the good news. I’m still making a profit on the moneyline, and I’m at 54 percent on the combination of the over/under and against the spread, two points above where you need to be to make a profit. So we’re still making money.
2021 overall performances
- Outright: 51-14
- Moneyline: 33-13; +$417 profit if $100 bet on every game (+9%)
- Gambling record: 59-51-2 (33-23 against the spread; 26-28-2 over/under)
Now it’s time to increase our margins. The Mississippi State Bulldogs have a bye, one SEC team has a non-conference foe and the other 12 play each other. Two non-SEC top 25 games make for nine overall. We’ll start with the worst game, end with Tennessee football and pick the rest by when they are scheduled. All picks come from WynnBET, and you can bet there by clicking here.
Gambling odds:
- Line: Missouri -20
- Over/Under: 69
- Moneyline: Missouri -1200; North Texas +750
Last week, while the Vols did their part, Missouri let us down, as I picked them to win and cover. Eliah Drinkwitz is not having the second year anybody envisioned, and morale has to be incredibly low for this team right now. After all, how do you bounce back from a 62-24 loss to a team you needed to beat to reach a bowl game?
They shouldn’t have to work too hard to bounce back at Faurot Field this week. Mizzou hosts a North Texas Mean Green team that is 1-3 and has yet to beat an FBS program. They did just come off of giving the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs a fight, though, so Seth Littrell’s team could be improving.
Prediction
It’s total chaos for Mizzou right now. They just fired their defensive line coach, and North Texas averages over 200 yards a game on the ground. Tey’re going to make this a game by torching the Tigers like Tennessee football did, so don’t pick them to cover. However, the Tigers’ offense will do enough to pull away late, so they’ll win in a surprise shootout. Take the over as well.
Missouri: 41 North Texas: 30 (North Texas +20; Over 69)
