Scouting Report. 4. 841. Pick Analysis. Defensive back. Senior. Keidron Smith. player

6’2″ 210 pounds

Technically, he’s not even listed as a starter on the depth chart. However, in terms of numbers, Keidron Smith has been by far Ole Miss’ productive player on defense. The key to the Rebels winning high-scoring games is getting just two or three stops, and they usually come with either a sack, an interception or a forced fumble.

Smith has two interceptions on the year along with a forced fumble. He’s one of two Ole Miss players to force three turnovers. On top of that, playing at the safety spot, his 17 solo tackles leads the team. Meanwhile, his 36 total tackles and two and a half tackles for a loss are both third on the team, although the tackles for a loss number is tied with three other players.

Simply put, Smith does a bit of everything. Tennessee football will have to continually score if it’s going to beat Ole Miss, and making sure Smith doesn’t come away with an interception is crucial to that. He’ll be all over the field, so Josh Heupel needs to be ready.

The only reason Smith is down here is matchups. UT has only thrown one interception on the year, nullifying Smith’s strength, and Smith hasn’t had a sack yet. As a result, while he’s the top playmaker on the team, his playmaking ability isn’t best-suited to wreck the Vols.
