Despite losing in a heartbreaker, Tennessee football provided plenty of highlights in its Saturday night matchup with the Ole Miss Rebels. Unfortunately, many Vol fans got in on the highlights, as there was plenty of debris thrown onto the field in a massive overreaction to a bad call that was made late in the game.

We all know about the bad call now. Hendon Hooker hit Jacob Warren for a 23-yard gain on 4th and 24, but the spot seemed to suggest he got the first down. That was a tough call. Before that, though, there was another tough call in the first half on a spot that went against the Vols, and that call was upheld, but the one spot call overturned was one that gave Ole Miss a first down.

All of those could have been forgiven, though, if not for a strip-sack returned for a touchdown that was called back. This is all in our highlight package for Tennessee football’s third loss of the season. Let’s dive in and look at the notable moments that took place on video.

Obviously, we had to end with some of the notable moments from the debris being thrown on the field. Vol fans should never have done that, and given all the mistakes they made within the game, they aren’t really in a position to blame the refs.

What happened there was the result of years of built-up frustration combined with other bad calls made throughout the game. Still, that call specifically did not warrant such a toxic response, and it’s one the SEC will have to address.

On the other hand, it added more entertainment to Lane Kiffin’s return to Rocky Top, provided nobody got hurt. Based on these videos, it’s clear that Tennessee football’s matchup had plenty of fireworks despite the scoring not being where it was expected to be.
