Last week’s prediction for Tennessee football was 100 percent on the money when it came to margin of victory, although it missed on the spread. I had a solid gambling week overall, but a couple of upsets killed me on the moneyline.

Week 7 performances

  • Outright: 5-3
  • Moneyline: 5-3; Lost $176 if $100 bet on every game (-22%)
  • Gambling record: 10-6 (5-3 against the spread; 5-3 over/under)

I’ve now increased by gambling record for the year to 55 percent, well above what’s needed to make a profit. However, the moneyline is in the red for the first time all season, and that’s something we need to fix this week. All of these lines are based on the WynnBET betting odds.

2021 overall performances

  • Outright: 61-21
  • Moneyline: 43-20; Lost $65 if $100 bet on every game (-1%)
  • Gambling record: 79-65-2 (42-31 against the spread; 37-34-2 over/under)

As Tennessee football gets set for its final game before a bye, it’s actually a dud week of games. Five SEC teams are on bye, and eight of the other nine play each other, making for five SEC games. The only top 25 game is a non-SEC game involves a team not in the top 25 of both polls, providing us six to predict. Let’s go ahead and start with our Week 8 Vols, SEC and top 25 picks and bets.

Arkansas Pine-Bluff Golden Lions at Arkansas Razorbacks

Saturday, Oct. 23 at Noon ET; Little Rock, Ark.; SEC Network

Yes, this week is such a dud that we’re back to an SEC vs. FCS game. The Arkansas Razorbacks need a break, though. After a red-hot start to the season, upsetting the Texas Longhorns and Texas A&M Aggies, they have lost three straight to fall to 4-3 overall, 1-3 in the SEC and out of the top 25 altogether.

Well, Sam Pittman’s team gets that break in traveling to War Memorial Stadium in the state capital to face the Arkansas-Pine Bluff Golden Lions. Under second-year head coach Doc Gamble, there’s been an APB out for APB over the past five weeks. They come into this game with a 1-5 record, a five-game losing streak, no wins over FCS or FBS teams and an 0-4 SWAC record.

Prediction

Okay, we don’t have to work too hard for this one. Tennessee football got a lot of flack for facing an FCS team as easy as the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles. What do we make of the Hogs for facing this team? There are no bets for this game, and there is no moneyline. This one’s simple. Arkansas cruises to a dominating victory.

Arkansas: 62 Arkansas-Pine Bluff: 0
