Tennessee football: Photo gallery from Vols’ 52-24 loss at Alabama
It was entertaining for three quarters. Anybody who saw Tennessee football lost to the Alabama Crimson Tide Saturday night knows that the Vols kept it interesting for a while. Sure, the Tide won 52-24, but it was 31-24 with less then 10 minutes to go in the fourth quarter.
Nick Saban’s team went on a tear after that, reminding everybody who the superior team was. Alabama stopped making so many mistakes, and all the issues plaguing Rocky Top were magnified. Josh Heupel just doesn’t have the team to be able to compete with Alabama right now given everything the Vols are dealing with.
Still, the fight and the process was worth watching for everybody following the game. As a result, it’s worth looking back on some of the standout moments throughout the night in Tuscaloosa, Ala. at Bryant-Denny Stadium. Let’s do that here. This is a photo gallery from Tennessee football’s 15th straight loss to Alabama and 16th straight loss to Nick Saban.
Although the blowout in the fourth quarter was discouraging, the flow of the game was encouraging for Vol fans. They now get a much-needed bye week with a 4-4 record and a chance to pull of a huge upset over the Kentucky Wildcats when they resume play in November.
Remember, this is an Alabama team that is one of the two most talented teams in the nation and has completely refocused after its upset loss to the Texas A&M Aggies two weeks ago. It would have taken a miracle for the Vols to pull off the upset in this one.
Putting up a fight was all Tennessee football fans could ask for. Of course, Alabama still covered, and that’s not a good selling point, but it doesn’t tell the story of what happened throughout the game. UT put on a show and demonstrated its resolve. It just needs more depth and experience.
