Okay, I took a risk last week with Tennessee football and Alabama and paid for it. In the fourth quarter, it looked like the Vols might pull off the upset. Then Alabama pulled away, killing my moneyline and spread record last week based on the WynnBET betting odds.

Week 8 performances

  • Outright: 5-1
  • Moneyline: 4-1; $3 profit if $100 bet on every game (+0.6%)
  • Gambling record: 6-3-1 (3-2 against the spread; 3-1-1 over/under)

If I wasn’t so outlandish with that Alabama pick I’d be back to making a profit on the moneyline. However, at least I’m above 55 percent on the spread and over/under combined record for the year. I’m also within a percentage of a moneyline profit now too.

2021 overall performances

  • Outright: 66-22
  • Moneyline: 47-21; Lost $62 if $100 bet on every game (-0.9%)
  • Gambling record: 85-68-3 (45-33 against the spread; 40-35-3 over/under)

This week, Tennessee football is one of six SEC teams on a bye. The other eight play each other, making for four games. We also have two Big Ten games featuring two top 25 teams each to cover, giving us six games to cover overall. As usual, we’ll start with the worst game, then we’ll go in the order that they’re scheduled. These are our SEC and top 25 picks and bets.

822. Nashville, Tenn.. Saturday, Oct. 30. 2-6 (0-4). 3-4 (0-3). 887. SEC Network. 3 p.m. ET

Gambling odds according to WynnBET:

  • Line: Missouri -16.5
  • Over/Under: 63
  • Moneyline: Missouri -800; Vanderbilt +550

At the beginning of this month, Tennessee football sent the Missouri Tigers into a tailspin with its 62-24 win. Now, Eliah Drinkwitz’s team is in real danger of missing a bowl game. They have to run the table in games against lesser teams, and the Vanderbilt Commodores at Vanderbilt Stadium is one of those games. They’ll also need an upset somewhere, but they have to start here.

Meanwhile, Vandy is desperately looking for another upset win in Clark Lea’s first year. They would like at least one SEC victory. Barely losing to the South Carolina Gamecocks was a heartbreaker, but it could give them confidence for this matchup. Can they rebound from a 45-6 loss to the Mississippi State Bulldogs?

Prediction

Honestly, there would have been reason to think this game could be much closer a week ago. However, with Mizzou coming off a much-needed bye, they should be rested enough to easily dominate the ‘Dores. With a horrible Vandy offense vs. a horrible Mizzou defense, the rested Mizzou defense wins, so take the Tigers to cover and the under.

Missouri: 41 Vanderbilt: 17 (Missouri -16.5; Under 63)
