We’re not even through October yet, and the Georgia Bulldogs would effectively clinch the SEC East with a win Saturday at the World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party at TIAA Bank Field. There’s no way they lose to both Tennessee football and Missouri, which would have to happen.

Kirby Smart appears to have his best team yet. He’s also coming off a bye. However, UGA has to be careful. Despite being ranked No. 1 in both polls, they have a history of blowing national championship seasons with upset losses to the Florida Gators. Remember 2002? They were 8-0, Florida was 5-3, and Florida pulled off the upset with Rex Grossman and Ron Zook.

Dan Mullen’s team comes into this game unranked with no shot at an SEC Championship. All they have left to salvage their season is a win here. With four unranked foes in November, they’ll go 8-4 at a minimum, but they could at least get a huge upset and be in line for 10 wins if they pull this one off.

Prediction

That 2002 game happened with Florida coming off a bye and UGA not. Both teams are coming off a bye now. All Florida does is run the ball. The Dawgs have the best defense, and their rush defense is their strength. As a result, they match up too perfectly against the Gators. UGA keeping Florida from scoring a touchdown allows them to cover while the game hits the under.
