  • Moneyline: Kentucky -125; Mississippi State +105

Where’s the respect for the Kentucky Wildcats? They are No. 12 in both polls, their only loss coming to the Georgia Bulldogs, and they are coming off a bye. How are they only a two-point favorite over the Mississippi State Bulldogs at Davis Wade Stadium?

Well, people still don’t believe in this program. Mark Stoops has been squeaking by, and even Tennessee football fans are confident about their chances at Kentucky next week. How long can they keep this up?

On the other side, Mississippi State may have finally begun looking like a Mike Leach offense last week with a 45-6 win over Vanderbilt. Sure, they lost 49-9 the week before to the Alabama Crimson Tide, but that was against Alabama. Kentucky’s not as good against the pass as the run, so this could be a solid matchup for MSU.

Prediction

I’ve stuck by the mantra that Leach’s teams are wildly different from week to week. This week, it’s their turn to struggle. They will throw three interceptions at least, and Kentucky will control the clock for another ugly win in which the game hits the under. In the process, they still won’t be out of the SEC East technically after this weekend.

Kentucky: 20 Mississippi State: 13 (Kentucky -2; Under 47)
