Last week: Did not play

There’s a case to move Arkansas slightly higher, however, they could also be below LSU in our SEC Power Rankings. Coming off a bye, which was a week after they ended a three-game losing streak by beating the Arkansas Pine-Bluff Golden Lions, this team still hasn’t beaten an FBS team since upsetting Texas A&M the last week of September.

Now it’s November, and Sam Pittman needs to right the ship. He’s gone from first to just outside of even the top half of these power rankings. To be fair, what Pittman did at the beginning of the year is wildly impressive. Everything he does is overachieving given what he inherited.

As a result, people should be happy with how Arkansas’s season turns out no matter what. However, it would be devastating for them, after such a hot start, to not finish in the top 25. With or without perspective, you don’t want to be let down like that.

They’ll have an immediate test on this front with a home game Saturday against a resurgent Mississippi State team. Then they’ll visit LSU. Alabama after that is a sure loss, but Missouri at home should be a sure win. Taking that into account, these next two games should define their season. Pittman’s kids should be all in after a bye.
