Fresh off a bye week, Tennessee football should have everybody ready to go when it gets set to visit the Kentucky Wildcats Saturday. At 4-4, this gives the Vols a huge opportunity, as they are facing a team ranked No. 18 in the AP Poll and No. 17 in the Coaches but reeling through a two-game losing streak, one fresh off a bye.

At 6-2, Kentucky may not want to see Josh Heupel’s team so well-rested. The good news for the Vols is that they don’t have to worry about key players stepping up based on injury. Everybody should be healthy once again, and that gives them a huge advantage.

This is the best situation Tennessee football should be in since it faced the Missouri Tigers. As we get set to break down the key Vols at Kroger Field in Lexington, Ky., we can just name the top guys. That’s a huge advantage and one reason for confidence in this team. To make that confidence a reality, these players will have to step up for Tennessee football Saturday.

One of Kentucky’s biggest issues this year has been throwing interceptions. They have thrown nine on the season. Meanwhile, the Vols have become one of the best teams at intercepting the ball. Despite no interceptions in their first two games, they have eight on the season. Players capable of doing that will be key here.

Safeties have been the key to intercepting Kentucky passes, and while Trevon Flowers only has one of the year, free safeties have particularly enjoyed chances to pick off UK passes. As a result, Flowers makes this list.

We should note that Flowers was the first player all year to intercept Ole Miss Rebels quarterback Matt Corral. Tennessee football will need him to pull off something like that in this game if it’s going to beat Kentucky. Flowers is a great coverage safety despite not having the interception numbers to show it. This could be his game to do that.
