If you’re looking for Georgia’s stat-padder on defense, Nolan Smith is your guy. The inside linebacker has five and a half tackles for a loss, two and a half sacks, an interception, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery. He’s the only guy on the team with three forced turnovers and more than one forced fumble.

Given the fact that Tennessee football, depending on the week, could have a major issue taking care of the ball at quarterback, Smith is a guy they need to watch out for at all times. He’s an efficient player in general, as he has 31 tackles on the year, 17 of which were solo.

There’s a reason Smith has twice earned SEC Defensive Player of the Week awards this year. He now has more pressure on himself, though, as Adam Anderson, who leads the team with five and a half sacks and has 32 tackles, 18 of which were solo, is now likely out due to a legal issue.

Taking that into account, Smart will likely use Smith a lot more. He’ll be the key edge rusher as M.J. Sherman tries to pick up the other outside linebacker spot. Combine UT’s fumbling with its issues in allowing sacks this year, and Smith is a guy they’ll have to watch out for at all times.
