Last week: Defeated Samford Bulldogs 70-52

Yes, the Florida Gators had to drop again, even after a win. Every time they take the field, it becomes more and more confusing how Tennessee football played so poorly against this team. They were trailing the Samford Bulldogs by two touchdowns in the first half and had to pull away in a shootout against this FCS school.

Who saw this coming? Now, Samford is not terrible by FCS standards. Sure, they are 4-5 against teams in their league, but all five losses have come to teams with winning records who have seen the top 25 at some point this season. Four of them were by one score as well.

Still, that’s no excuse for the Gators to struggle like that with them. The wheels are coming off Dan Mullen’s program, and his seat continues to get warmer. It’s even worse for defensive coordinator Todd Grantham given what has happened the past few weeks.

Now, you have to question if a bowl will happen. These guys have to visit Missouri this week, and the Tigers are playing for a bowl just as much as this team is. Then they host a Florida State Seminoles team that has dramatically rebounded from its ugly start. Don’t sleep on the possibility of them losing both games.
