Tennessee football unchanged in Week 11 SEC Power Rankings after loss to Georgia
Last week: Defeated Vanderbilt Commodores 34-17
It may have been just against Vanderbilt, but winning comfortably showed Kentucky isn’t completely reeling. They rebounded nicely from their loss to Tennessee football, and it was enough for us to move them up one spot in our SEC Power Rankings. However, as you can see, the awful SEC East rounds out the bottom of this league.
Anyway, Kentucky clinched a winning record and a winning record in the SEC with Saturday’s win. To put that in perspective, Kentucky never had a winning record in the SEC from 1978 to 2017, a 40-year period, and Mark Stoops has done it twice since 2018. Oh, UK also clinched a second place finish in the SEC East.
Maybe they were lucky in a lot of their wins early on in the season, but hey, they got the job done. This team has a case to get back into the top 25 even if it’s down here in the SEC, and depending on what happens going forward, that could still happen.
As for what UK can control, they should assure themselves eight wins this Saturday with a win against the New Mexico State Aggies. Then they get to visit the Louisville Cardinals in a game that will likely define if they are truly top 25 caliber.
