At least one guy has to make the list on offense, right? We could have named the quarterback, as either is a threat to Tennessee football. Jake Bentley is 3-0 against the Vols as a starter dating back to his time with the South Carolina Gamecocks. Desmond Trotter is a dual-threat quarterback, and that has given UT problems all year.

However, without the full knowledge of who will go, the obvious choice is to go with the one weapon on South Alabama’s offense. Jalen Tolbert was mentioned in our preseason post of the top five non-conference stars the Vols would have to account for this year, and he’s lived up to every bit of the hype that was set out for him.

So far this season, Tolbert has 65 catches for 1,140 yards and six touchdowns. Only one other person, running back Terrion Avery, has over 500 yards from scrimmage. Avery is a threat, as he has 601 yards from scrimmage and four touchdowns, but he’s averaging fewer than four yards a carry en route to his 508 rushing yards this season.

Simply put, Tolbert is easily the biggest threat on the Jaguars’ offense, and as the clear-cut producer, that makes him the top threat on the team. If Tennessee football is going to pull out this win, the Vols have to contain him at all costs.
