Tennessee football vs. South Alabama: Best prop bets to make

Prop bet No. 3: First half over 34

For as safe as a bet the over/under is, the first half over/under is even a safer bet. Both Tennessee football and South Alabama have their worst defensive performances and best offensive performances at quarters in the first half.

The Vols are No. 1 in first quarter scoring at 14.9 points per game. Despite being a defensive-minded team, South Alabama is No. 18 in second quarter scoring at 11.3 points per game. That’s by far the best quarter on offense for both teams.

It gets even deeper on defense. South Alabama is No. 96 on defense in the first quarter, allowing nearly seven and a half points per game. Meanwhile, the Vols have a horrendous second quarter defense. It’s ranked No. 120, as they give up 12.6 points per game. As a result, there’s likely to be a lot of scoring on different sides in each quarter.

Taking that into account, you have to think that the first half will hit the over. Heck, South Alabama and UT just hitting their averages for those individual quarters will be enough to push the score within 10 points of the over/under in the first half. At the same time, they’ll each have chances to score themselves in the other quarters, so this over should hit easily.
