Tennessee football: Photo gallery from Vols’ 60-14 win vs. South Alabama
It was a non-conference game that everybody expected Tennessee football to win. The Vols delivered on that expectation as they dominated the South Alabama Jaguars 60-14. Still, despite no surprises, there was plenty to want to relieve by fans on Rocky Top after this one.
The Vols clinched bowl eligibility, at least on the field, with the win, as they moved to 6-5 on the season. Now, when they host the Vanderbilt Commodores next week, they’ll be playing to clinch a winning season, which would be just their second over the past five years.
In addition to that, the game itself was fun for everybody to watch. That makes plenty of sense given the fact that Tennessee football was able to put up 60 points for the second time this year. With that level of production put on for the fans, who wouldn’t want to look back on the game? Let’s do that here in our photo gallery of the Vols’ victory.
Josh Heupel has definitely made a splash his first year on Rocky Top, and this win solidified that, as he was able to exceed so many expectations by clinching bowl eligibility. Heading into the day, his team had the No. 1 ranked strength of schedule as well, so what he’s done is beyond remarkable, and he deserves a ton of credit for that.
Getting UT to rebound from a 41-7 loss to the Georgia Bulldogs was also impressive. Heupel had his kids ready to play, and the fans were also ready to cheer on their team in what seemed like a forgettable November non-conference matchup.
To clinch that winning season, Tennessee football will have to beat the Vanderbilt Commodores next week. It’ll be their third straight home game, and they’ll undoubtedly be heavy favorites. However, they need the same energy they had in this game to assure the win.
