Tennessee football reaches top half of Week 12 SEC Power Rankings with South Alabama win
Last week: Lost to South Carolina Gamecocks 21-17
To be fair, they did get robbed on that overturned call on the punt return in which the referees ruled a muffed punt, and you have to be suspicious of that call given the fact that it was SEC refs doing it and it allowed another SEC team to reach bowl eligibility. However, the Auburn Tigers still lost a game they shouldn’t have.
Let’s face it, they are better than the South Carolina Gamecocks. Without Bo Nix, though, they aren’t the same team, and T.J. Finley playing was enough to drop them in our SEC Power Rankings. They went from controlling their own destiny in the SEC West at the start of November to falling completely out of the top 25.
Bryan Harsin has definitely fallen behind Tennessee football’s Josh Heupel in which head coach did the best job their first year. Despite all the issues facing them, they shouldn’t be losing to a team like South Carolina given the talent they have.
Now, .500 is on the table and actually likely. They have to beat the Alabama Crimson Tide in the Iron Bowl this Saturday to avoid that, and despite the game being at home, does anybody think that’s possible? A top 25 finish is out of the question at this point, and this team collapsed late.
