Tennessee football reaches top half of Week 12 SEC Power Rankings with South Alabama win
Last week: Defeated Auburn Tigers 21-17
He hasn’t done as good of a job as Tennessee football’s Josh Heupel either, but Shane Beamer has still done an amazing job in his first year as South Carolina’s head coach, and he has definitely surpassed Bryan Harsin and Auburn. Beating the Tigers last week was the second signature win of November for this team.
Obviously, the first signature win was when they beat Florida. Still, two impressive wins like that moves them ahead of two SEC West teams in our SEC Power Rankings, and South Carolina being even at No. 10 right now in this list is pretty impressive.
Early on this season, especially when they suffered a blowout loss to Tennessee football and barely beat Vanderbilt and the East Carolina Pirates, a bowl game seemed off the table. Rebounding the way they did Saturday after a heartbreaking loss the week before in what seemed like their best chance to reach a bowl is incredibly impressive.
Well, now they have a chance to guarantee themselves a winning season. Up next is a visit from hated Clemson Tigers, and while Clemson is better in every way, they have struggled this year. South Carolina has the opportunity to end Clemson’s dominance in the series. If they pull that off, it will define the season.
