Well, this game never got to be what it could have been with Jimbo Fisher and Ed Orgeron going at each other. Fisher was supposed to be in the College Football Playoff running this year, and Orgeron was a national championship winning head coach. Instead, this will be Orgeron’s final regular season game with LSU, and Fisher’s team is playing to stay in the top 25.
As Texas A&M travels to Tiger Stadium, they continue to look inconsistent. However, their dominant win over the Prairie View A&M Panthers is nothing to sneeze at. After all, Prairie View A&M may be the best team in the SWAC. They are still No. 15 in the CFP rankings and No. 14 in the AP and Coaches Poll.
LSU, meanwhile, consistently played over its head in conference games but then struggled to put away the Louisiana Monroe Warhawks last week. A bowl berth is on the line for this team Saturday in Death Valley, and that would be a nice way to send Orgeron out. Tennessee football fans are lucky to be facing Florida and LSU next year with each having new head coaches.
Prediction
Honestly, I thought the line would be much higher, at which point I would have been sure to take LSU. However, at a touchdown, it’s difficult. I’ve got Texas A&M winning the game, but it’s a complete toss-up. They’ll cover with a late touchdown, and LSU won’t get the bowl berth everybody expects. Take the under with A&M’s defense.
Texas A&M: 24 LSU: 14 (Texas A&M -6.5; Under 46.5)
