Coming off back to back top 25 wins without their best player, the Tennessee Lady Vols will be facing two Big 12 teams away from home over the next two days. Kellie Harper’s team is in Las Vegas, Nev. for the South Point Thanksgiving shootout.

They tip things off Friday evening against the Kansas Jayhawks. This is their second straight Power Five matchup this year, their first one being the most recent game they played, a huge comeback victory over the Texas Longhorns, who were in the top 15 at the time.

This will be a battle of unbeatens, as Kansas enters this game undefeated just like Rocky Top under seventh-year head coach Brandon Schneider. UT, meanwhile, comes in at No. 11 in the AP Poll and No. 10 in the Coaches Poll. Here is all the information you need for the Tennessee Lady Vols’ matchup.

534. Friday, Nov. 26. 4-0. Las Vegas, Nev.. 6:30 p.m. ET. 4-0. 462. South Point Arena

It has been a trying time for Harper’s team. They haven’t won a game by more than 10 points all year, and they have had to come back in the fourth quarter to win three of their games. However, two of them were against top 25 foes, and the other was against a mid-major defending regular season conference champion on the road.

All of this has come while they deal with a slew of injuries. UT first lost returning starter Marta Suárez for the year two weeks before the opener. Jordan Horston then had to miss that opener, against the Southern Illinois Salukies, due to an ankle injury. Then their one All-American, Rae Burrell, went out in the second quarter with a knee injury.

This explains why they had to come back to beat SIU. Burrell is still out indefinitely, but Horston came back the next game, on the road against the UCF Knights. UT pushed through to beat them, the USF Bulls and then Texas. They came back from 10 down in the fourth quarter to beat Texas.

Kansas, meanwhile, is hoping it has turned a corner under Schneider. They have only had one winning season under him, going 15-14 in 2019-2020, but this 4-0 start could mean something. However, they haven’t faced a Power Five foe yet, so UT will be their first real test.

Up next for the Tennessee Lady Vols will be another matchup Saturday in Nevada against the Oklahoma State Cowboys. The Jayhawks, meanwhile, will take on the UTEP Miners in the same arena as part of this event.
