Tennessee football vs. Vanderbilt: Live stream, game time, TV and radio, betting preview
In the final regular season game of Josh Heupel’s first year on Rocky Top, Tennessee football will be looking to clinch what would be just its second winning season over the past five years. The Vols will also be looking to continue asserting their dominance in a rivalry game.
UT will host its in-state SEC foe, the Vanderbilt Commodores, on Rocky Top Saturday afternoon. It’s a battle of first-year head coaches, as Vandy comes in under Clark Lea, who is looking for his first SEC or Power Five win on the job.
Last week, Vanderbilt lost 31-17 to the Ole Miss Rebels. Tennessee football, meanwhile, dominated the South Alabama Jaguars 60-14, its second 60-plus point game this year. Here is all the information you need for this matchup.

On paper, the Vols should obviously blow this team out. However, the history of this series suggests differently. Vanderbilt has a longstanding tradition of putting up a fight against Rocky Top despite being outmatched.
From 1995 to 1997, the Vols had Peyton Manning and were a top 10 team every time they faced Vanderbilt, and Vanderbilt never had more than three wins. However, UT won those games 12-7, 14-7 and 17-10. Meanwhile, Vanderbilt has won five of the past nine, including three straight from 2016 to 2018.
This year, a bowl game was never the expectation, but a Power Five or SEC win was the hope for Vandy as it was rebuilding. Their last chance to get one is against the Vols, and if they could pick a game to pull off such a win, it would be this outing.
Meanwhile, the Vols already met their first-year goal under Heupel by reaching bowl eligibility last week, an impressive accomplishment given all the drama they dealt with in the offseason. Securing a winning record would be an extra step to a strong first season. Also, they could get their third straight against Vanderbilt to restore dominance in this series.
When these two teams faced off in 2020, Tennessee football won 42-17, which was its only win in the final eight games of that season. Morale is much higher for the program this year given what Heupel has done so far, and winning Saturday would add to that.
