Yes, the next team in our SEC Power Rankings is one of the four-loss teams in the top 25. Honestly, this gives Tennessee football fans hope, as they could maybe finish off in the top 25 depending on what happens with the bowl season. We’ll get to that later.

Anyway, Jimbo Fisher’s Texas A&M Aggies disappoint you just as soon as you start to believe in them. Earlier in the year, A&M was considered a College Football Playoff contender. Then they were written off with losses to Arkansas and Mississippi State. Just as they were written off, they shocked Alabama, and Fisher became the first former Nick Saban assistant to beat Saban.

By November, this team was top 10 caliber and looked like a contender in the SEC West. Then they lost two of their final three, bottoming out this past weekend against LSU. A&M had the better team and had no business losing that game.

Doing so knocked this team into the bottom half of our power rankings. They are still No. 24 in the AP Poll and No. 23 in the Coaches Poll, and a bowl game to reach nine wins would represent a strong finish after a rough start, but this isn’t what anybody expected.
