Gambling odds according to WynnBET:

  • Line: Louisville -2
  • Over/Under: 55.5
  • Moneyline: Louisville -125; Air Force +105

Another service academy program is playing in a bowl game in Texas that honors frontline heroes. The SERVPRO First Responder Bowl definitely seems skewed to at least one of the schools it invites, although once again, at least a Power Five school is the opposition.

At 9-3 on the year, the Air Force Falcons come into this game five spots outside of the Coaches Poll top 25. As a result, they may have an outside shot, depending on how wild things get, at finishing in the top 25. They did share the MWC Mountain Division title, but Utah State had the head to head.

On the other side, the Louisville Cardinals were blown out by the Kentucky Wildcats in their final regular season game, validating Tennessee football’s win at UK. Third-year head coach Scott Satterfield did just enough to get to a bowl game, but they need to finish with a winning record.

Prediction

Air Force has three losses by one score to teams with at least eight wins. Louisville’s best win is over an eight-win Group of Five team, by one score at home. There’s a reason Tennessee football once tried to hire Air Force head coach Troy Calhoun. He’s got a great program, and he’ll show it here with an upset. The run game will allow Air Force to control the clock, so take the under.

Air Force: 27 Louisville: 24 (Air Force +2; Under 55.5)
