What a wild day it was for the Tennessee Vols. Bowl season is about to begin in football, men’s and women’s basketball are in full swing when it comes to non-conference player, and postseason recognition in fall sports continue to roll in, but in the midst of all of this, a major recruiting day stole the news in football.

This is what it’s like now with the early signing period, and our morning update on Rocky Top leads with continuing coverage of how that played out for UT on Wednesday. We’ll cover the press conference that happened after it and do a quick recap of everything that happened.

Beyond recruiting, though, there are other sports to get to as well. We have continuing coverage of an event involving the swimming and diving program, and we’ll close things out with postseason awards for the volleyball program. Let’s start, though, recapping the big news that took place with the football program.

Entering the early signing period with 17 commitments, the Tennessee Vols football team added three new ones on the first day of the period in running back Justin Williams, defensive lineman Tyre West and edge rusher James Pearce. They signed all 20 players. Josh Heupel recapped the class in a press conference Wednesday evening. Here’s a bit of what he said.

"“I think we had 10 captains that came out of these 20 guys. Multiple guys won state championships, guys that know what it takes to win, the dedication, focus and strength and endurance that you’ve got to have to win.”"
