The first game in a week for the Tennessee Lady Vols is also their first game since after Christmas and their last game before they begin SEC play. It’s their second straight matchup with an in-state Southern Conference opponent heading to Rocky Top to face them.

Kellie Harper’s program, ranked No. 7 in the AP Poll and No. 10 in the Coaches Poll, welcomes the UT Chattanooga Mocs to town Tuesday night. They are coming off a 112-58 win over the East Tennessee State Buccaneers from last Monday.

Chattanooga, meanwhile, is coming off a 62-51 win over the UNC Asheville Bulldogs from last Monday. That snapped a nine-game losing streak for them. Here is all the information you need for the Tennessee Lady Vols’ outing.

Just like the ETSU Bucs, Chattanooga is having a rough year. Under fourth-year head coach Katie Burrows, their only other win outside of UNC Asheville is over the Tennessee State Tigers. Losing both leading scorers from last year has had a huge role in making this year challenging.

To be fair, they have played two other SEC opponents on the road in the Alabama Crimson Tide and Vanderbilt Commodores, and they also visited the UAB Blazers and hosted the Cincinnati Bearcats. As a result, they haven’t had the easiest schedule.

Meanwhile, UT still has no timeline for Burrell’s return. Two Saturdays ago, they suffered their first loss of the year, at home to the Stanford Cardinal. However, they have beaten two teams that beat Stanford, so they have shown a lot without Burrell.

After this game, the Tennessee Lady Vols’ SEC opener will come on Thursday, Dec. 30, when the Alabama Crimson Tide pay a visit to them. Chattanooga will visit the Jacksonville State Gamecocks that same day and then begin Southern Conference play a week later at the Samford Bulldogs.
