Tracking Tennessee football seniors and transfers: Who’s leaving? Who’s coming back?
Seniors who can return but haven’t announced (On scholarship)
Paxton Brooks
- Punter
- 6’6″ 195 pounds
- Lexington, S.C.
Initially a highly touted prospect out of South Carolina in 2018, Paxton Brooks was Joe Doyle’s backup as a punter that first year. He took the job midway through 2019, though, and hasn’t let up. With 2020 not counting against his eligibility, he can come back for one more year.
LaTrell Bumphus
- Defensive lineman
- 6’3″ 290 pounds
- Savannah, Tenn.
Another member of the 2017 recruiting class, LaTrell Bumphus saw action for Tennessee football from then until 2020. However, 2020 doesn’t count against his eligibility, and due to injury, he only played four games in 2021. As a result, he could redshirt, and with Matthew Butler gone, it may do him well to come back for a year.
Cheyenne Labruzza
- Defensive back
- 5’11” 200 pounds
- Albany, La.
All signs seem to suggest Cheyenne Labruzza is gone, but he also redshirted in 2017 as a prospect out of Louisiana. Then he played 2018 through 2021, but 2020 doesn’t count, so he should have only used three years of eligibility. With Theo Jackson gone, the Vols may need some more options at nickel, and Labruzza could potentially provide that.
Juwan Mitchell
- Linebacker
- 6’1″ 226 pounds
- Newark, N.J.
A transfer from the Texas Longhorns, Juwan Mitchell was listed as a sophomore junior college transfer 2019, so no matter what, he should have had two years of eligibility when he joined the Vols in 2021. Add in an injury where he could take a redshirt, and he still may have two years left. UT also would start him immediately at linebacker. No announcement has been made, though.
Chase McGrath
- Place kicker
- 6’0″ 195 pounds
- Newport Beach, Calif.
Just like Caleb Tremblay and Velus Jones Jr., Chase McGrath joins Tennessee football out of USC. The California kicker was reliable this year, not missing an extra point and making all but one kick within 40 yards. He was able to redshirt in 2018 due to an injury and was part of the 2017 class, so again, he should have another year left.
Aubrey Solomon
- Defensive lineman
- 6’5″ 325 pounds
- Leesburg, Ga.
Similar to Cheyenne Labruzza and LaTrell Bumphus, all signs seem to point to assuming Aubrey Solomon not coming back. However, when he transferred to UT from the Michigan Wolverines, he was listed as a junior. The 2017 five-star from Georgia only played four games this year, meaning he could take a redshirt and come back. Could he and Bumphus man the defensive line?
