Scouting Report. Philadelphia Eagles. Derek Barnett. 4. Pick Analysis. Defensive lineman. player. 54

By far the Tennessee football player who entered the NFL with the most hype and expectations among former Vols in the NFL Playoffs, Derek Barnett and the Philadelphia Eagles are back in it after a horrendous 2020 campaign. Barnett, however, is having one of his least productive seasons in terms of sacking the quarterback, which is his speciality.

The all-time career sacks leader in UT’s history has just two sacks in 15 starts this year, the lowest total in his career. On the other hand, he has 46 total tackles, more than he’s ever had, and he has seven tackles for a loss, one more than he had last year, so the production is still there.

Similar to Emmanuel Moseley, Barnett’s experience is why he gets to be a bit higher than other players. The guy did recover the fumble to secure the Eagles’ Super Bowl his rookie season, and this will be his third time playing in the playoffs in five years.

Taking that into account, you have to think Barnett will be ready for the moment. Philly visits the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Sunday afternoon, and Barnett will have another shot to be a playmaker against Tom Brady, just like he was in that Super Bowl.
