Tennessee football: Ranking former Vols in 2021-22 NFL Playoffs

When is a long snapper ever this high on a list? Well, Morgan Cox is one of the best long snappers in the game. He played for Tennessee football from 2006 to 2009 and then went undrafted before signing with the Baltimore Ravens in 2010. Since then, Cox has turned into one of the best long snappers in the game, and that’s a big deal.
In 2015, 2016 and 2020, Cox made the Pro Bowl, and he earned All-Pro honors in 2020 as well. The Tennessee Titans, who have had kicking woes for year, then took a chance on Cox and signed him, and he has started every game for them this year.
It’s no coincidence that place-kicking for the Titans dramatically improved this year as a result. After going 8-of-18 on field goals in 2019 and 20-of-28 last year, they went 26-of-32 this year with Randy Bullock handling duties, and Bullock was perfect inside 40 this year.
Snapping and holding are underrated keys to a successful kicking game, and while it hasn’t been great, the Titans’ kicking game has clearly dramatically improved this year. Cox is a huge reason for that, and he’s an underrated reason they have the No. 1 seed in the AFC and don’t have to play this week. Special teams can be a big deal.
