6. Jabari Small 37-yard touchdown run at Kentucky

Early in the year, Jabari Small was a feature back but clearly the No. 2 guy. However, once November hit, he began to break out, and while he didn’t get many carries against the Kentucky Wildcats, he made the most of the carries he did get.

In a game filled with highlights, Tennessee football allowed UK to score on the opening drive to go up 28-24. The Vols were then moving the ball down the field once again, and after the passing game generated all the highlights, it was Small’s turn.

On the heels of two completions to Velus Jones Jr., Small took the handoff and ran into open space. He would have just had a first down, but he then made one of the most amazing cuts to run into the end zone and give UT the lead in its biggest win of the year.

Small had a 60-yard run against the Purdue Boilermakers that almost competed with that run against Kentucky. It’s definitely worthy of a mention and being shown on what we might call this highlight reel from the season.

However, Tennessee football didn’t beat Purdue, this play wasn’t a touchdown, and Small had that amazing cut in the UK game. All of that was enough to give that touchdown run the edge in a year of highlights for Small.
