3. Tiyon Evans 92-yard touchdown run at Missouri

You can’t really point to one play in Tennessee football’s win over the Missouri Tigers that’s the reason they won. After all, they roared off to a 28-3 first quarter start and pulled out a 62-24 victory. All we can really say is this was the win that showed they arrived and put them on track to reach a bowl game.

Of all those big plays in the game, though, none stood out more than what Tiyon Evans did. The Vols were up 14-3 in the first quarter, but a Mizzou punt pinned them inside the 10-yard line. If they could flip field position, they could make this a game again.

Evans made sure that didn’t happen. He took the handoff on the first play of the next drive and ran it 92 yards for a score the other way, which put Rocky Top in complete control. After that score, Jeremy Banks had an impressive interception on the next drive and ran it back to the one to set up another score, putting UT up 28-3.

Although Banks’ interception was nice and helped further break the game open, Evans was the one who made the initial play to break it open. That it was the longes play of the year was more than enough for us to put it in the top five.
