The final day of anything that will be the result of Josh Heupel’s first year as head coach of Tennessee football is here. Heupel will oversee his second National Signing Day, but it’s the first one in which everybody in the class is a player he signed. Last year, his only signee was junior college offensive lineman Jeremiah Crawford.

Rocky Top did most of its work in the Early Signing Period and enters this day with 21 commitments, 20 signed and 13 early enrollees. Their focus will obviously be signing their one other commitment but also adding other potential players if possible.

In this primer, similar to the Early Signing Period, we’ll track all the news and stories of the day here. After that, we’ll list all the players who have committed to, signed with and even enrolled on campus to join Tennessee football. That could update throughout the day, but this is where you can come for all of your information. Here’s a current look at the class.

Heading into the day, Tennessee football had a top 15 class across the three main recruiting services. It was No. 11 on Rivals, No. 13 on On3 and No. 14 on 247Sports. Although it was all the way down at No. 22 on ESPN, that was last updated on Dec. 15, so it’s hard to go by.

Looking at the other rankings, the one drawback, though, is where UT stands in the SEC. Despite being so high, they are No. 6 in the SEC on On3 and 247Sports. Now, they are No. 4 in the league on Rivals, and they’re in the top half of the league no matter what, so there is still plenty to be excited about, especially given what Josh Heupel has returning.

dark. Next. National Signing Day: Five prospects to watch for

Taking all of this into account, National Signing Day now will just be about mostly wrapping up what Tennessee football has already accomplished. Their focus afterward will likely be on the transfer portal anyway. However, don’t count out what they do here. Keep an eye on updates that happen throughout the day.
