4. Derrick Moore

Edge rusher; Baltimore, Md.

Initially committed to Oklahoma, Derrick Moore decommitted after Lincoln Riley left for the USC Trojans. Like Keon Sabb, he then chose Jim Harbaugh and Michigan during the Early Signing Period. Wave riders on the recruiting trail, which there’s nothing wrong with being, should definitely be players Tennessee football targets during this level of attrition.

Moore hails out of St. Frances Academy in Maryland. Standing at 6’4″ and weighing between 245 and 250 pounds, he is a four-star across the board. Also, the Vols have a connection here, as current UT defensive lineman Dominic Bailey played at St. Frances Academy, and linebacker Aaron Willis did spend a year there.

Taking that into account, Moore is a person Heupel and co. should definitely target. With Byron Young, Tyler Baron and Roman Harrison, edge rusher doesn’t seem like the most crucial position of need for the Vols right now, but you can always improve your depth there.

As a result, Moore is the perfect player for the Vols to target, and they should do whatever they can to land him. He could become another immediate contributor, and he sets Rocky Top up at edge rusher for the future. Given his late commitment, UT could make an impression on him too.
