Outside of defensive back, Tennessee football suffered its biggest loss at receiver. Velus Jones Jr., their go-to slot receiver, and JaVonta Payton, their No. 2 wideout, are both gone. Meanwhile, Andison Coby and Kaemen Marley have entered the transfer portal.

However, the Vols luckily return their leading receiver in No. 1 wideout, Cedric Tillman, and they have tons of options already on the roster to replace the other guys. That includes Ramel Keyton, Walker Merrill and Jalin Hyatt as solid options to be the No. 2 wideout and Hyatt, Jimmy Calloway and Jimmy Holiday as solid options as the slot guy.

Josh Heupel would have been fine picking from those guys. However, he added to the rotation on the trail in a big way. UT added four wide receivers, and all of them have a four-star rating on at least one recruiting service, which means he may have even upgraded this unit.

Kaleb Webb is the most highly touted recruit in general, as he is a four-star on all services except for ESPN, where he is a three-star. Cameron Miller is the second most highly touted recruit, as he is a four-star on Rivals and ESPN and a three-star on 247Sports and On3. Charles Nimrod and Marquarius White are four-stars on On3 and three-stars everywhere else.

Of those guys, Webb and Nimrod will definitely be competing for that No. 2 wideout spot. Miller could compete for that spot or the slot position. White will likely compete for the slot spot. Either way, they’ll all provide depth, and they are quality enough that, combined with what Tennessee football already has at receiver, this was the strongest unit in their 2022 class.
