Ranking transfers to FBS schools (Did not play)

22. Ethan Rinke; South Alabama Jaguars

  • Defensive lineman
  • Redshirt sophomore
  • Entered portal Oct. 11, 2020

After seeing no action for Tennessee football in two years, Ethan Rinke entered the transfer portal early in 2020. The 6’2″ 260-pound former walk-on went and joined the South Alabama Jaguars, but he did not play this past year. He’s still got three years of eligibility.

21. Chayce Bishop; Ball State Cardinals

  • Cornerback/Wide receiver
  • Redshirt freshman
  • Entered portal May 13, 2021

Initially a cornerback for the Vols who moved over to wide receiver this past year, Chayce Bishop is a 5’11” 181-pound former walk-on to UT. He transferred after spring ball in 2021 and joined the Ball State Cardinals, where his father, Tennessee Titans legend Blaine Bishop, played. However, he saw no action in 2021, but he’s still got four years of eligibility left.

20. Greg Emerson; Memphis Tigers

  • Defensive lineman
  • Redshirt junior
  • Entered portal June 26, 2021

Once a four-star in the Vols’ 2018 recruiting class, Greg Emerson broke out early in 2019 as UT’s top defensive tackle. However, he began to split time down the stretch, and once Tim Banks found a new rotation after spring ball in 2021, he transferred that summer to the Memphis Tigers. At 6’3″ 300 pounds, he didn’t play for Memphis this past year, but he still has two years of eligibility.

19. J.T. Shrout; Colorado Buffaloes

  • Quarterback
  • Sophomore
  • Entered portal Dec. 22, 2020

Jeremy Pruitt’s first signing at quarterback, J.T. Shrout was heavily in the mix and would have been in the mix under Josh Heupel. However, right after the season ended, the 6’3″ 215-pound drop-back passer left Tennessee football. He went and joined the Colorado Buffaloes, but a knee injury knocked him out for the season.
