Given the fact that Tim Banks was going to go with Alontae Taylor and Warren Burrell at cornerback while Theo Jackson locked down the nickel spot, it made sense for Kenney Solomon to transfer. That was even more clear with the additions of Auburn Tigers transfer Kamal Hadden and Alabama Crimson Tide transfer Brandon Turnage.

As a result, Solomon went somewhere he could play, and he became a reserve for the Tulsa Golden Hurricane. Although his limited action would suggest he should have been on the previous slide, Solomon actually saw a good bit of action.

With just a pass deflection and four tackles, two of which were solo, the former Tennessee football walk-on earned more playing time throughout the year. He ended up playing in 11 games, and playing a majority of the games for an FBS school gets you a page on your own.

Solomon still has two years of playing eligibility left, and three departures in the secondary gives him a great shot to be a starter next year. There’s a lot of bitterness over the transfer of many of the former Vols, but Solomon isn’t one who deserves that smoke.
