Tennessee football’s five most underrated signees in 2022 class
Clay-Chalkville High School
To be fair, Marquarius White was a four-star on one, service, On3. However, he was a three-star everywhere else. Given what we know about White on paper alone, that makes him a huge steal for Tennessee football right out of the state of Alabama.
Standing between 5’10” and 5’11” while weighing in the range of 155 to 165 pounds, being a bit too undersized for SEC play is likely what is hurting White right now. However, he can always put on weight, and his athletic ability still makes him valuable. For White, speed is the name of the game, and he has a lot of it.
White clocked in a 4.37 40-time, according to reports, before he reached his senior year of high school. Known as Squirrel White, the product of Jefferson County just outside of Birmingham drew offers from tons of high-profile SEC and national schools because of his ability.
With Velus Jones Jr. gone, the Vols also have a big need for a speedy slot receiver. Jimmy Calloway, Jimmy Holiday and Jalin Hyatt could all fill it, but White could play that role too. In Josh Heupel’s system, speed can go a long way. Just ask Jaylen Wright as he worked himself into the running back rotation towards the end of last year.
