Tennessee vs Mississippi State Prediction
The Volunteers have won four of five behind a swarming defense that ranks 11th nationally in adjusted defensive efficiency. They force turnovers on just under 25% of opponent’s possessions, good for 7th in the country.
Tennessee forced 18 turnovers in their 56-53 win over the Bulldogs a few weeks ago and should once again take advantage of an offense that has just the 180th-ranked offensive turnover rate.
The Vols’ offense is getting hot lately, too. They put up 81 points against South Carolina and 90 against Texas A&M, and if their shooters stay hot I don’t see how Mississippi State can keep this close.
In the first matchup, Tennessee shot just 3-19 from beyond the arc and still won by three. The Volunteers are no Golden State, but they average 34.3% on the season and we can expect a better performance tonight.
With such a small spread, I love Tennessee -1.5 (-110). The Vols are 16-1 outright and 12-5 ATS as a favorite while the Bulldogs are 0-4 as an underdog. Too many things have to go wrong for Mississippi State to pull this one out and I expect the Volunteers to pull out their third straight win.
