Tennessee Lady Vols at No. 1 South Carolina: Live stream, time, TV, radio
After falling 74-64 to the Alabama Crimson Tide this past Thursday to mark their fourth straight road loss, the Tennessee Lady Vols have a much more imposing test away from home Sunday. However, it’s also a huge opportunity for them.
Kellie Harper’s team, ranked No. 12 in the AP Poll and No. 8 in the Coaches Poll, will visit the South Carolina Gamecocks, ranked No. 1 in both polls. This would’ve been a top five matchup three weeks ago, but ever since losing Keyen Green to injury, UT hasn’t won a road game.
Dawn Staley’s team comes into this outing on a 12-game winning streak, having most recently blown out the Auburn Tigers 75-38 at home. Here is all the information you need for the Tennessee Lady Vols’ huge matchup Sunday.

Although Rocky Top has struggled as of late, getting back on track in this game opens up a world of opportunities. They are currently tied with the LSU Tigers for second in the SEC, and a win in this game would put them just one game behind South Carolina for first.
It will obviously be difficult, as Staley has turned the Gamecocks into the class of the SEC, replacing the Lady Vols over the past decade. She may have her best team ever this year too, as their only loss came by one on the road to the Missouri Tigers.
On the other side, injuries have plagued the Tennessee Lady Vols more than any other team in women’s college basketball. It started in the preseason with returning starter Marta Suárez suffering a season-ending foot injury. Then Rae Burrell was knocked out for two months due to an injury in the opener.
Burrell came back in January, but then Green was lost for the season. Now, though, to make matters worse, Jordan Horston is out due to a fractured dislocation of her left elbow. She will miss this game, dealing another crippling blow to UT.
Up until Green’s injury, Harper’s team’s only loss was to the Stanford Cardinal. However, without Green, they have lost four of seven, including two bad road losses to mediocre teams in Auburn and Alabama along with blowout losses to the Florida Gators and UConn Huskies.
Winning this game would be a complete 180 from the performances we’ve seen recently by Rocky Top on the road. It would also lessen the impact of some of those losses. Simply put, they really have nothing to lose at this point.
Following this matchup, the Tennessee Lady Vols will close out the regular season with two home games against the Mississippi State Bulldogs and then LSU. South Carolina will close it out visiting the Texas A&M Aggies and the Ole Miss Rebels, so winning the SEC regular season title becomes very possible if UT wins this game.
