On the heels of a huge win over the Auburn Tigers this past weekend, their third victory over a top five team this year, Tennessee basketball is back on the road for the third time in four games. They enter the final week of the regular season in the thick of the SEC race.

Rick Barnes’ team, ranked No. 13 in both polls, will head south to take on Tom Crean’s Georgia Bulldogs. If they can win this game, they’ll host the Arkansas Razorbacks Saturday for their regular season finale with a chance to secure the No. 2 seed in the SEC Tournament and possibly a chance at the top seed if Auburn loses again.

Georgia, meanwhile, comes into this game dead last in the SEC, on a nine-game losing streak and having most recently fallen 84-72 at home to the Florida Gators. Here is all the information you need for Tennessee basketball’s final regular season game on the road.

Despite all of the UGA’s issues this year, Vol fans shouldn’t take them lightly. The Dawgs did beat the Memphis Tigers and Alabama Crimson Tide at home, and they only lost to Auburn by two. Simply put, they are a dangerous team at home, and UT is 4-4 on the road, so they are capable of slipping up.

At the same time, the Vols have lost six straight at Georgia. They haven’t won there since 2011, when Bruce Pearl was head coach. Barnes lost his first four games against UGA as head coach of Rocky Top, which was part of a five-game losing streak overall the Vols had to them.

Simply put this program has been an achilles heel for Tennessee basketball, and with everything in front of them, they can’t afford to overlook this matchup. There’s a very real chance for them to capture the regular season SEC Championship, and choking against UGA in the process would be devastating for them.

Prediction

Ever since that close loss to Auburn, Georgia has looked awful. Meanwhile, outside of an over-officiated game at the Hogs. the Vols have been superb in all SEC games, not just at home, the past month and a half. As a result, it makes sense to take the Vols here.

However, the spread is a bit too high. UT will be looking ahead to Auburn’s visit to the Mississippi State Bulldogs Wednesday and their own matchup with Arkansas Saturday. Those are the two games most likely to determine who finishes the regular season atop the league.

Next. Five Vols who won the most. dark

Because of that issue, take Georgia +15.5. A poor shooting night by Tennessee basketball will keep it close, so take the Under 145 as well. Barnes’ team will still win. It will just be uglier than expected. The score will look something like this: Tennessee 72 Georgia 62.
