Tennessee baseball: How to watch Vols vs. No. 1 Texas and others in Houston event
It’s supposed to be a six-team event that lasts three days where everybody plays at least three teams. However, the headline for Tennessee baseball is just their first game, a top 10 matchup between two teams who met last year in the the College World Series.
Ranked No. 6 in the nation with an 8-0 start, Tony Vitello’s Vols travel to Texas for the Shriners Hospitals for Children College Classic. UT will face the Oklahoma Sooners on Saturday and the Baylor Bears on Sunday in the event, hosted by the Houston Astros.
Before both of those games, though, Tennessee baseball will take on the No. 1 ranked Texas Longhorns Friday night, the team that beat the Vols 8-4 to eliminate them from the CWS. Here is all the information you need for this weekend’s slate of games.
Shriners Children’s College Classic

Tennessee’s schedule
Friday, March 4: Texas Longhorns at 8 p.m. ET
Saturday, March 5: Baylor Bears at 4 p.m. ET
Sunday, March 6: Oklahoma Sooners at Noon ET
The LSU Tigers and UCLA Bruins are also in this event, but UT won’t play either of them. UCLA and Baylor start things off at Noon ET on Friday. Oklahoma and LSU will follow at 4 p.m. ET before the Vols face Texas in the game that matters most here.
On Saturday, Oklahoma and UCLA start things off at Noon ET. Following Rocky Top’s matchup with Baylor, Texas and LSU will face off at 8 p.m. ET. The Vols start things off with their Sunday game, followed by UCLA vs. Texas at 4 p.m. ET and LSU vs. Baylor at 8 p.m. ET.
This is truly a test for UT in multiple ways beyond just facing Texas. It’s their first slate of games away from home, and given where they are playing, it could actually be considered a road game Friday and Saturday. Also, this is their first round of games against Power Five schools.
After this matchup, Tennessee baseball returns home for a midweek series against the James Madison Dukes, whom they will face on Tuesday and Wednesday. They will then host the Rhode Island Rams for a three-game series next weekend.
