Tennessee football: Top 10 transfers still out there for Vols to target
Fifth-year senior
Back to cornerbacks, Keidron Smith is another player with one year of eligibility left who Tennessee football could plug right in. He’d also address a likely upgrade need the Vols have at the position, as we’ve already mentioned that they just don’t need depth here based on what we saw in the Music City Bowl.
Anyway, Smith has a unique size at 6’2″ 210 pounds, allowing him to guard bigger wideouts. Once again, Josh Heupel could have a connection to him since he’s from Florida. Although he’s from West Palm Beach, Fla., which is closer to the Miami area, the connection still stands.
Smith has been productive for Ole Miss every year since 2018, as he’s got five career interceptions, 19 career pass deflections, five career forced fumbles, a sack, eight tackles for a loss and 224 tackles, 131 of which were solo. The graduate of Oxbridge Academy has enough SEC experience to make an immediate impact.
Also, wouldn’t it be great for Vol fans to be able to get a player like Smith after he transferred away from Lane Kiffin? Given what happened last year, stealing a quality player from the Ole Miss Rebels would be the ultimate dream for many Vol fans.
