Tennessee football: Top 10 transfers still out there for Vols to target
Sophomore
A huge need for Tennessee football this year is defensive line. The Vols lost Matthew Butler, Ja’Quain Blakely and Caleb Tremblay, and it’s still not clear what will happen with Aubrey Solomon and LaTrell Bumphus. As a result, Josh Heupel needs immediate help here for depth purposes and potentially starting purposes.
Why not go for a guy from within the state who has a few years of eligibility left and comes from a Power Five program? Cormontae Hamilton graduate from Whitehaven High School in Memphis, Tenn., and has spent the past two years with the Ohio State Buckeyes.
He hasn’t played that many games, but the product of Shelby County clearly brings a ton of potential to the table. At 6’2″ 265 pounds, he would likely fill the void Tremblay left, which involves a hybrid defensive lineman in Tim Banks’ system who can play inside or outside.
Both Blakely and Tremblay provided that, but everybody who could play that role this year is unproven. Hamilton would be unproven too, but he’s at least like another recruit at the position, and he could help spur more competition there this year. As a result, targeting him would be a great idea for the Vols.
