In-state connections aren’t just the only way Tennessee football can add players via the transfer portal. They could also add players who committed to and played for Josh Heupel specifically elsewhere, and Cam Goode fits that mold. Another defensive linemen, the Vols should target him as heavily as they possibly can.

Coming out of St. John’s College in Washington, D.C., in 2018, Goode initially committed to play for the Virginia Tech Hokies in 2018. However, after just one year there and no action, he transferred to the UCF Knights. His second year under Heupel, he exploded with three sacks, seven and a half tackles for a loss and 19 total tackles, 12 of which were solo.

This past year, Goode remained productive under Gus Malzahn, as he had three sacks again, four tackles for a loss, an interception, three pass deflections, four forced fumbles and 23 total tackles, 13 of which were solo. Simply put, he brings a lot to the table.

At 6’2″ 315 pounds, Goode would definitely be a pure defensive tackle rather than a hybrid one, but Tim Banks still has a need for that with Matthew Butler gone. As a result, the Vols have every reason in the world to target him.
