Still short-handed and coming off a heartbreaking loss to the LSU Tigers to close out the regular season, the Tennessee Lady Vols have their first SEC Tournament game Friday night. In the process, they’ll be looking to avenge a regular season loss.

Kellie Harper’s team, ranked No. 18 in the AP Poll and No. 15 in the Coaches Poll, is the No. 3 seed in the tournament and will face Kristy Curry’s No. 11 seed Alabama Crimson Tide. Alabama enters this game after beating the No. 14 seed Auburn Tigers 75-68 Wednesday and upsetting the No. 6 seed Georgia Bulldogs 74-62 Thursday.

This is a rubber match for both teams. UT beat Alabama in its SEC opener in Knoxville, but Alabama won in Tuscaloosa, Ala., just three weeks ago by 10. The Tide come into this game having won three straight, five of six and six of eight. Here is all the information you need for the Tennessee Lady Vols’ first SEC Tournament matchup.

Broadcast information

Based on bracketology projections in our most recent post, the Lady Vols come into this game just barely forecast to host the first weekend of NCAA Tournament games. You have to be a No. 4 seed or higher to do that, and across almost all rankings, they would fall into that category.

However, losing again to Alabama would hurt their case for that. They haven’t won a game away from home ever since Keyen Green went down with a season-ending injury, and Jordan Horston going down makes it even tougher to believe in them doing so.

Playing in Nashville works to their benefit, to be fair. They could effectively be a home game for them depending on how many Lady Vol fans make the trip. It’s definitely much more of a toss-up than it should be, though, and they will only secure home court advantage in the first weekend of the Big Dance by beating this red-hot Alabama team away from home.
