Postseason play is underway in college basketball, and while the men’s basketball SEC Tournament begins today, the Tennessee Vols don’t play until Friday. That doesn’t mean that there is no men’s basketball news for UT today, though.

Our morning update on Rocky Top leads with SEC recognition for individual men’s basketball Vols. It’s awards season for the sport, so postseason recognition will likely be coming through over the next month and a half. Tuesday was just the start.

Beyond awards, though, we’ve got midweek baseball and softball games to recap. Tennessee Swimming and Diving at NCAAs also generated news, and there are some updates to bring you on that as well. Let’s start, though, with basketball awards.

Three Vols earn men’s basketball All-SEC – SECSports

Southeastern Conference Coaches’ postseason awards for men’s basketball were revealed Tuesday. The Tennessee Vols placed Santiago Vescovi on first team All-SEC, Kennedy Chandler on second team All-SEC, and Chandler and Zakai Zeigler on Freshman All-SEC.

"First-team and second-team All-SEC honorees, All-Freshman team, All-Defensive team, along with Player, Coach and Freshman, Defensive, Sixth-Man and Scholar-Athlete of the Year were chosen by the league’s 14 coaches. Ties were not broken."

Baseball game vs. James Madison suspended – Wes Rucker, GoVols247

Game One of a two-game midweek series in Knoxville between the No. 3 ranked Tennessee Vols baseball team and the James Madison Dukes was suspended due to weather. Both teams were tied at 7 with the game heading into the bottom of the eighth inning.

"Play was initially delayed for 30 minutes before a planned reevaluation, but Mother Nature didn’t seem likely to relent, and the game was officially suspended. It’ll be resumed at 4:30 p.m. Eastern, with another game scheduled to start 30-45 minutes after the first concludes."

Softball defeats Austin Peay – Ken Lay, VolsWire

In its final game before the start of SEC play, the No. 18 ranked Tennessee Lady Vols softball team defeated the Austin Peay Governors 9-1 Tuesday. UT will visit the Missouri Tigers for a three-game series this weekend.

"Junior designated player Madison Webber hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the fifth inning, securing a run-rule win for the Lady Vols. Webber’s home run was one of three in the game for the Lady Vols (16-6)."

Three divers qualify for NCAAs – UTSports

On Day Three of the Zone B Championships Tuesday, the Tennessee Vols diving program added to its list of qualifiers for the NCAAs. Senior Grace Cable earned a spot on the women’s side, and  sophomore Bryden Hattie and senior Matthew Wade earned spots on the men’s side.

"The zone championships conclude with the men’s platform prelims beginning at noon ET followed immediately by the finals. The top seven divers from finals will advance to NCAAs."
